LATINO LEADERS IDENTIFY FUNDING PRIORITIES FOR CONGRESS
NHLA recommends funding programs that will strengthen the Latino community and America

Washington, D.C. –The National Hispanic Leadership Agenda (NHLA), a coalition of 39 of the nation's preeminent Latino organizations, shared its detailed appropriations priorities for fiscal year 2016 in a letter to Members of the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate today.

The NHLA letter recognizes the work done by the House in recent weeks to advance appropriations bills and looks toward final appropriations legislation that both chambers and the White House will negotiate later this year. In that context, NHLA urges Congress to meet NHLA's funding targets for key programs that have a major impact on the Latino community.

"Considering one in six people in America are Latino, the Latino community's success is a key component of America's success. In order to help Congress prioritize our community's and the nation's needs, NHLA has provided a guide on necessary federal investments to protect our civil rights, promote good governance, and provide critical support to keep families working, in their homes, healthy, and with the promise of opportunity to achieve the American Dream. We will continue to monitor Congress' progress on reaching these goals and advocate for our community's priorities," said Hector Sanchez, NHLA Chair and Executive Director of the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement.
