When Donald Trump announced his presidential candidacy in June, he said: "When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. ... They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."
As we know, this was only the beginning of a string of negative, inappropriate comments Mr. Trump has made about Latinos. At the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda, we advocate every day on behalf of our member organizations-- leaders who fight for the dignity and promise of the American Dream for Latinos. NHLA spoke out about these egregious comments and the media listened.
